Children and Poverty

Whisper is a book about a young adolescent girl who grows up with enough, but she is sent to the city to beg. There, her family hopes to profit from her circumstances, and when Whisper arrives in the city, she discovers hundreds of other children who are also begging on the streets and who live in poverty. Millions of children in our own world, in our own country live in poverty and many of these children help earn money for their families.

Because of families living in poverty, many children feel that they must work to help support their families. Whisper also believes that she must work to support her father and brothers.
